World Series Teams Last 10 Years Champions

World Series Teams in last decade had eight champions including Houston Astros, Atlanta Braves, and Los Angeles Dodgers. There were 13 clubs in total.

The Astros were the winning teams in two seasons while making the highest of four World Series appearances over the past decade. Dodgers were the second with three World Series arrivals.

Similarly, the Boston Red Sox and Kansas City Royals were the only ones that appeared in two World Championships. Red Sox had also been the winning teams in both seasons.

Here are the World Series teams to play in the last ten MLB seasons;

Houston Astros had reached the World Series four times over the past decade. They are also the reigning champions from 2022.

The Houston team obtained their first World Series title after defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2017. They had finally broken the drought of 55 years since their establishment in 1962.

Astros had won four out of seven games while losing only three rounds to the Dodgers in the final series of that postseason. It was also the first World Series from the Texas state.

Their second appearance was in 2019 when they went up against the Nationals and lost the series by 4-3. Similarly, they reached the pinnacle of the postseason in 2021 but lost the little by 4-2 against the Braves.

The team had been persistent in their efforts as they successfully got their second World Series title in 2022. They defeated the Philadelphia Phillies by 4-2 wins in the best-of-seven series.

Atlanta Braves won the 2021 World Series against the Astros by winning four games in the final series. It was their fourth overall title and first in the 21st century.

They had won the seven-series finale by winning four games while losing two. They had advanced to the World Series by clinching the NL East division and obtaining a bye.

The Braves went on to defeat the Brewers in the Division Series followed by an NLCS pennant against the Dodgers. The franchise had been to the World Series for the second time after their relocation to Atlanta in 1966.

They had won the World Series despite the Astros having a home-field advantage with a better regular season record over the Braves.

Los Angeles Dodgers had been to the World Series three times over the last decade. They got their first win since 1988 in 2020 after defeating the Tampa Bay Rays.

Dodgers had obtained the title by winning four games against the Rays while losing only two. The 2020 had been special since it only had 60 games.

The entire series was played in the Globe Life Field due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The attendance at the Rangers stadium had only been filled with 11,500 fans due to the pandemic situation. 

With the reduced regular season, the postseason was also held at a single neutral stadium instead of their home ground. Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager became the World Series MVP with a .400 batting average and an OBP of .566 after hitting 2 homers and 5 RBI.

Washington Nationals had been to their first World Series in 2019 and won. It was the only time the franchise had played the postseason till the end.

The Nationals had won four out of the final seven series games that year, defeating the Astros by 4-3. They had all four winning games as a visiting team at Minute Maid Park.

Although the Astros had the home-field advantage, the Nationals defeated the Astros by a 6-2 score in the seventh game on 30 October. The Nationals had also been the first road team in MLB to win all seven games in the Championship series.

There had been no teams in all of North American Major League Sports where a visiting team had won all their post-season games as a visiting team.

Boston Red Sox had been to two World Series games in the past decade and won them both. They were the winners of 2013 and 2018 World Series championships.

Their first title was obtained by defeating the Cardinals in the best-of-seven series. Red Sox had won four games while losing only two thus finishing the series early in just six rounds.

Starting with their first victory in the first game in Fenway Park, the Red Sox had lost the second and third rounds to the Cardinals. However, they had won the following three games straight and became the World Champions for the eighth time in the franchise's history.

The Red Sox reached the pinnacle of the postseason games again in 2018 to record their ninth World Series win. They had won the final series against the Dodgers by winning four games while losing only one. 

They finished the best-of-seven series in just five games by shutting the Dodgers with just one win in the third round. 

Chicago Cubs reached the World Series in 2016 for the first time in 71 years since 1945. They won the title that year by winning four out of seven games against Cleveland.

The Cubs had also broken the longest World Series drought of 107 years for the franchise that year. Their last victory was in 1908 which belonged to the first decade after the Championship began in 1903.

After losing the first game of the seven-game series against the Indians at Progressive Field, the Cubs won the following round. They lost another two rounds after that but obtained the title after defeating the Indians in the last three games of the series.

Kansas City Royals has been to the World Series twice over the past ten years. Their first appearance was in 2014 when they lost against the San Francisco Giants.

The Royals won the World Series title in 2015 defeating the New York Mets by a three-game lead in just five rounds. It was the second overall title in the franchise's history after winning their first in 1985.

After failing to obtain the title in 2014 by losing against the Giants by 4-3, they returned the following year to take the trophy home. The series began with them winning the first two rounds against the Mets.

While the Mets won the third round, they clinched the postseason title by winning the last two games, finishing the series in just five rounds.

San Francisco Giants reached the World Series once in the past decade. They won the title in 2014 by defeating the Royals by clinching four out of seven games.

The series began with their victory in the first round against the Royals by a 7-1 score on 21 October. Following that, they lost the second and third rounds to the Royals before obtaining their second win in the fourth.

It continued with the Giants winning the fifth round while playing at thier home ground in At&T Park, San Francisco. While the Royals got their third win in the sixth round, they ultimately lost the series by being defeated in the seventh game.

Baseball teams that have never been to the World Series contain none but the Seattle Mariners. Colorado Rockies also belonged to the list till 2007.

Although the Rockies got out from the list of teams that never reached the World Series, they failed to win even a single game in the best-of-seven series. Boston Red had defeated them for four straight games to become the champions that year.

The Mariners have been close to winning the American League Championship Series twice in the years 2000 and 2001. However, they had been unlucky in both seasons facing the reigning champions New York Yankees in the ALCS finals.

After losing consecutively in both attempts starting with their debut year, they were unable to qualify for the postseason games till 2022. However, they still lost the AL Division Series against the Houston Astros.

Apart from the Rockies and Mariners, the other team that belonged to the list till 1982 was Milwaukee Brewers. On their first World Series game, they lost four out of the seven games against the St. Louis Cardinals.

MLB teams that have never won the World Series are Texas Rangers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Colorado Rockies. There are six teams that have yet to win the trophy.

San Diego Padres, Tampa Bay Rays, and Seattle Mariners are the other three that belong to the list. Mariners is the only team among them that has yet to even reach the World Series game.
