Texas Rangers Coaching Staff 2023 includes the head coach Bruce Bochy and pitching coach Mike Maddux. Will Venable is the associate manager of the team.

Texas Rangers is an MLB franchise that plays in the AL West division. It was known as Washington Senators from 1961 to 1971 until its relocation to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. As of 2023, the team plays in the Globe Life Field for their home games. 

Although the team has not any World Series titles, they have played multiple postseason matches and won the AL Championship Series, including the 2010 and 2011 seasons. Similarly, they have clinched the first position in the AL West division seven times, their recent one being the 2016 one. 

The team has many notable personalities who have got inducted into the Rangers Hall of Fame due to their club's contributions. Some include baseballers like Nolan Ryan, and Buddy Bell as well as broadcasters like Mark Holtz and Eric Nadel.

Texas Rangers head coach is Bruce Bochy. He joined the team in the 2023 season. Donnie Ecker acts as the offensive coordinator.

Texas Rangers Head Coach

Bruce Bochy is a former baseball player who became the team manager in October 2022.

The Rangers job is not the first managerial stint for Bochy, since he has been involved in the managerial role since 1995. At that time, Bruce had been managing the San Diego Padres, the club from where he retired as a player. He spent 12 years with the Padres and then moved to the SF Giants in the 2007 season. 

Bochy helped the Padres win the NL Pennant in the 1998 season and had established a 98-64 win-loss record that year. In his 12-year time frame for Padres, he guided the team to 951 wins from 1926 matches and had a .494 winning percentage. 

Starting his Giants managerial career in 2007, Bochy found more success with this team, winning three World Series in 2010, 2012, and 2014. During the 13 years, Bruce registered 1052 wins and 1054 losses for the Giants. In 2023, Bochy has been successful so far, since Texas is the AL West leader. 

As a former baseballer, Bochy debuted for the Houston Astros in the 1978 season. After three years, Bruce went to the Mets and moved to the Padres in 1982. Bochy played in San Diego until 1987 and registered 20 homers and 448 at-bats.

Texas Rangers Hitting Coach

Tim Hyers has been the hitting coach for the Lone Stars since his arrival in November 2022.

Hyers started his coaching career with the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2016 season. He only worked there for two seasons and then transferred to Boston Red Sox, where he stayed till the 2022 season. During his time in BoSox, the team's average runs were 4.9 and guided the team to the 2018 World Series. 

In 2021, the Red Sox scored 5.1 runs on average per game, and 2019 saw the team make 5.6 runs per match. Although it seemed a good match for both parties in the long run, Tim decided to leave the team for a fresh challenge and new environment. 

Playing four years in the MLB, Hyers debuted for the San Diego Padres in 1994. Tim spent two years with the Californian team and then moved Mid-west to Detroit Tigers in 1996. The first baseman contributed 2 dingers, 19 RBI, and a .217 batting average.

Texas Rangers Pitching Coach

Mike Maddux became the pitching coach for the Rangers in 209. Maddux rejoined the coaching list alongside Bochy in 2023. 

Mike was a prolific mentor in his 2009-2015 years.

Maddux started coaching the team's pitching in 2009 after Nolan Ryan hired him to fix the franchise's terrible ERA record since they had not gone below 4 since 1990. Mike accepted the challenge and in the 2009 season, led Texas to a decrement by 0.99 ERA. During his coaching years, the Rangers saw their ERA become 4.04 collectively. 

Under Maddox's pitching guidance, the team won two AL Championships and made four playoff appearances. Per MLB, GM Chris Young remarked that Mike was the most successful Rangers coach in history. In 2015, Maddux parted ways with Texas and moved to Washington Nationals and then later traveled to the Cardinals in 2017. 

As an MLB pitcher, Maddox played his early years for the Philadelphia Phillies from 1986 to 1989. Later, he got involved with many teams like the Mets, Red Sox, and Dodgers. in his 15-year service, Mike contributed 39 wins, 4.05 ERA, and 564 strikeouts from 861.2 innings pitched.

Minor League Coaching Staff

Texas Rangers also has Minor League affiliations, including their top Triple-A team, Round Rock Express. All the MiLB affiliate teams have their coaching personnel.

Texas Rangers roster consists of Martin Perez, Brad Miller, and Marcus Semien. Adolis Garcia is the only active player from Cuba.

Lone Stars Players To Watch In 2023

Nathan Eovaldi is the starting pitcher for the Lone Stars and leads the pitching team in strikeouts with 70. Moreover, Nathan has made a 2.42 ERA, 7 wins, and 1 shutout over 74.1 innings pitched. Eovaldi has spent 12 years in MLB and joined the Rangers in 2023 from Red Sox. 

Similarly, pitcher Jon Gray has pitched 57.2 innings this year and has made 46 strikeouts and a .281 ERA. Moreover, he has also showcased 5 wins and allowed only 19 runs. Gray has been a Texas member since 2022 and pitched 127.1 innings last year. 

Josh Jung is a third baseman who has smashed 12 home runs and 11 doubles from 207 at-bats in 2023. Jung has maintained a .295 batting average and has a good .872 OPS. Jung debuted for the Lone Stars in the 2022 season and played 26 games in his rookie year. 

Rightfielder Adolis Garcia has made the most powerful impact in 2023, smashing 14 home runs and 9 doubles from 206 at-bats. He has also scored 45 runs and 4 stolen bases while sustaining a .824 OPS and 49 RBI. Garcia is a 2021 All-Star who joined the Lone Stars in 2020.
