Texas Rangers World Series Pitching Rotation 2023

Texas Rangers World Series Pitching Rotation has Jon Gray, Jordan Montgomery, and Nathan Eovaldi. He pitched 4.2 IP in the first match of the World Series.

Rangers are playing the World Series this year after 2011. Since the establishment of Rangers in 1961, they have made it to the World Series in 3 seasons which include 2023, 2011, and 2010. Rangers was defected by St Louis Cardinals in 2011 by 3-4 and the San Francisco Giants Crushed the Rangers in the 2010 World Series by 4-1.

Texas Rangers made it to the postseason after clinching a playoff berth in the American League. Rangers thrashed Tampa Bay Rays in the League Wild Card game by 2-0 and won the American League Division Series against Baltimore Orioles by 3-0. Rangers won the American League Championship Series by 4-3 against Houston Astros and made it to the World Series after 12 years.

Cody Bradford, Dane Dunning, Nathan Eovaldi, Jon Gray, and Andrew Heaney are the starting pitchers of the Texas Rangers. Similarly, Relief Pitchers like Jose Leclerc, Aroldis Chapman, and Josh Sborz are also on the Texas Rangers World Series roster for 2023.

Rangers World Series Pitching Rotation 2023

Texas Rangers pitching rotation 2023 includes Nathan Eovaldi, Max Scherzer, and Jordan Montgomery. Andrew Heaney will pitch in game 4 of World Series 2023.

The starting pitcher goes first in baseball games, throwing pitches during the first several innings. Following that, relief pitchers such as the closer, setup man, and long relievers enter to pitch in the game.

Nathan Eovaldi has been decided as the starter for game 5 of the World Series. There could be a higher chance of rotating Jordan Montgomery for the 6th match of the World Series and Andrew Heaney for the final match. After the injury of Max Scherzer, Jon Gray could be another option as a starting pitcher for the next matches.

 Texas Ranger's pitching staff includes Brok Burke, Nathan Eovaldi, Dane Dunning, and Martin Perez. Relief pitcher Brok Burke is replaced in the place of Scherzer for the remaining fixtures. Likewise, Texas Rangers pitching coach is Mike Maddux

Nathan Eovaldi

Nathan Eovaldi is the starting pitcher in the first game of the World Series 2023. He pitched 4.2 innings on 27 October 2023 against the Diamondbacks.

Eovaldi has pitched 144.0 innings in the regular season of 2023 with an ERA of 3.63. He made a total of 132 strikeouts in the 25 games he started in the regular season. His win-loss ratio in the regular season is 12-5.

In the postseason, Eovaldi has appeared in 5 post-season games including the first match of the World Series. He had made 36 strikeouts in the journey pitching 30.2 innings. He was a starter against the Tampa Bay Rays in the Wild Card game on October 5. Likewise, he pitched 7.0 innings as a starter against the Baltimore Orioles and claimed 7 strikeouts in the ALDS on 11 October 2023. 

Eovaldi played 2 ALCS games on 17 and 23 October as a starting pitcher and he claimed 13 strikeouts in those matches against Houston Astros. The Rangers coach made him a starter in the first match of the World Series and he pitched 4.2 innings on 27 October claiming 8 strikeouts against Arizona Diamondbacks.

He was hit 1 home run in the match and his innings cost 5 runs for the Rangers with an ERA of 3.52. Other relief pitchers in the match were Dane Dunning, Jon Gray, and Jose Leclerc. Will Smith and Cody Bradford also pitched 0.2 and 1.0 innings as a reliever in the match. Rangers started their World Series campaign with a victory against Dbacks by 6-5 in their first match. Nathan Eovaldi will also feature as a starter in game 5 of the World Series on November 1 at Chase Field.

Jordan Montgomery

Jordan Montgomery was rotated as a starter for the second game of the World Series 2023. He pitched 6.0 innings on 28 October against Dbacks.

Montgomery has played 11 games as a starting pitcher in the regular season of 2023. He Pitched 67.2 innings with an ERA of 2.79 and claimed 58 strikeouts for Texas Rangers. Montgomery was traded from St Louis Cardinals in the middle of the season by the Rangers. His win-loss ratio at Texas Rangers is 4-2.

Jordan Montgomery has played 6 post-season games this season including the second match of the World Series 2023. In those 6 matches, he pitched as a starting pitcher in 5 games and has pitched 31.0 innings in the postseason. He has claimed 17 strikeouts and his earned runs in the postseason campaign is 10. Similarly, he has cost 3 home runs in the postseason for the Rangers.

Rangers lost the match against the Dbacks in which Montgomery was pitching as starting pitcher by 9-1. Montgomery was hit 9 times in the 6.0 innings he threw in this match. He did not claim any strikeouts and was hit 1 home run by the Diamondbacks batter. Dane Dunning, Martin Perez, Chris Stratton, and Andrew Heaney were the relievers who pitched 0.1, 1.1, 0.2, and 0.2 innings respectively.

Max Scherzer

Max Scherzer has started the third game of the World Series 2023 as a starter. He pitched 3.0 innings with an ERA of 6.52 on October 30.

Scherzer has started only 8 games in the regular MLB season 2023 for Rangers and pitched 45.0 innings. He claimed 53 strikeouts and cost 5 home runs for the team in the regular season. His win-loss ratio is 4-2 in 2023 season. He was traded from the New York Mets in the middle of the season.

Max Scherzer played 3 games in the post-season 2023 and he pitched 9.2 innings including the 3.0 innings he pitched in the World Series game 3. He made 7 strikeouts in these games with an ERA of 6.52. 

Scherzer made 1 strikeout while pitching 3.0 innings in the 3rd match of World Seris 2023. Jon Gray, Josh Sborz, Aroldis Chapman, and Jose Leclerc are other relievers who pitched the remaining innings. Rangers won the match by 3-1 against the Diamondbacks at Chase Field.

Adolis Garcia and Max Scherzer have been dropped from the Rangers WorldSeries roster. Ezequiel Duran and Brock Burke have taken their places. Scherzer has been cut off from the remaining fixtures because of the back spasm in the 3rd game against the Diamondback.

Andrew Heaney

Andrew Heaney is the starting pitcher of Rangers in the game 4 of the World Series. He pitched 5.0 innings with an ERA of 4.09 on 31 October 2023.

Heaney has played 34 games in the regular season of 2023 and started 28 of them. He pitched 147.1 innings claiming 151 strikeouts which is the most by any Rangers pitcher this season. Heaney has an ERA of 4.35 in the regular season 2023 with a win-loss ratio of 10-6. However, he cost 23 home runs in the regular season of 2023 for the team.

Andrew Heaney played 5 games in the postseason and he started 3 matches of them including the 4th game of World Series 2023. He pitched 5.0 innings in this crucial fourth game of the World Series and made 3 strikeouts. Dane Dunning and Cody Bradford also pitched 1.0 inning each. The Ranges defeated the Diamondbacks by 11-7 and now leading the series by 3-1 after 4 games.
