San Francisco Giants coaching staff 2023 include Gabe Kapler as a manager. Craig Albernaz is the catching coach for the Giants in 2023.

The Giants was founded as the New York Gothams in 1883. The team has undergone multiple name changes throughout history, eventually settling for the current name after relocating to the Bay area in 1958.

They are one of the oldest and most successful franchises not only in baseball but in all of American Sports. The team has won nine division titles, twenty-three pennants, and five World Series.

The Giants last won the World Series in 2014, where 2021 was the last time the franchise made it past the regular season. Oracle Park has been the team's home ballpark for two decades. 

The franchise has been home to some of the greatest baseball players, such as Willie Mays, Barry Bonds, and Mel Ott. There are sixty-seven Giants players inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

SF Giants coaches

SF Giants coaching staff includes pitching coach Andrew Bailey and infield coach Kai Correa. The team has a seventeen-member coaching staff for the 2023 season.

Both Bailey and Correa joined the team before the 2022 MLB season. Kai is also a bench coach in addition to being an infield instructor.

Gabe Kapler - Manager

Kapler is a former major league outfielder who spent twelve seasons playing for six teams. He was part of the 2004 Boston Red Sox team that went on to win the World Series.

During his playing career, the outfielder scored 82 home runs and 386 RBIs, averaging .268. After retiring in 2011, Gabe started his coaching career by coaching the Israeli National Team for the 2013 World Baseball Classic qualifier.

The former player joined the Dodgers as a player development coach in 2014 and, after a couple of seasons, joined the Phillies for his first managerial role. He guided the Phillies to an 82-82 record in 2019, the franchise's first non-losing season in seven years.

In November 2019, Kapler was announced as the Giants' manager after the retirement of Bruce Bochy. Gabe guided the team to a 29-31 record in his first season, which was shortened by the pandemic.

The following season Giants finished at the top of the NL West with a record of 107-55 and reached the playoffs. It was the first time the manager had guided a team to the playoffs.

However, they could not get past the Dodgers in the division series. The Giants have a record of 28-28 and are third in NL West as of June 2, 2023.

Justin Viele - Hitting Coach

Viele began his career as a coach in 2015 when he joined Frederick Keys in the Baltimore organization as an assistant coach. After a couple of years with the franchise, Justin joined the Dodgers staff.

He served as the hitting coach for the Ogden Raptors, a minor league affiliate of the Dodgers. Justin then served as the hitting coach for organizations such as Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, Glendale Desert Dogs, and Great Lakes Loons.

Before the 2022 MLB season, Justin joined the Giants' coaching staff as a hitting coach.

Craig Albernaz - Bullpen/Catching Coach

Albernaz is a former minor league player who played for the Rays and Tigers organization. He played 380 games in his nine-year-long career, accumulating 241 strikeouts.

Craig began his coaching career in 2015 as the coach of the Princeton Rays, a team in the Appalachian League. The coach also served as a manager for the Bowling Green Hot Rods in Midwest League in 2018.

He was named the Manager of the Year for that season. He spent the 2019 season as field co-ordinator in minor leagues for the Rays franchise before joining the Giants team as a bullpen and catching coach in the last month of 2019.

San Francisco Giants Baseball Roster 2023

SF Giants roster includes Camilo Doval, Thairo Estrada, and Alex Cobb. Estrada is on the ten-day injured list and is expected to return on May 8.

The roster is filled with talented and young players. The active team comprises five starting pitchers, eight relievers, two catchers, six infielders, and five outfielders.

The list only includes active players as of June 2, 2023. Ten players out of the forty-man roster are currently playing for the minor league associates of the franchise.

Further, eight players are placed on the injury list.

Here are some of the players to keep an eye on for the 2023 season:

1. Thairo Estrada - Second Baseman

Estrada is among the best players on the team for the season. Currently injured, Thairo has played 47 games this season, where the infielder has smashed six homers, 13 stolen bases, and 17 RBIs at an average of .301.

His batting average and stolen bases are among the top fifteen in the league. The infielder has also played in different positions than 2B, including fifteen at shortstop and two each in left field and as the designated hitter.

2. Alex Cobb - Starting Pitcher

Cobb has been one of the best pitchers for his team this season. Out of the only eleven games he has started, he has a record of 4-2, with an ERA of 3.05.

During that time, he has accumulated 57 strikeouts, one shutout, and one complete game. He also has five quality starts to his name.

3. Michael Conforto - Right Fielder

Conforto is the leader in home runs for the team from California. He has smashed eleven home runs this season, two more than J.P Davis, who is in second.

Michael is in good form and has been batting at an average of .529 for the last week, smashing a homer and four RBIs. The right fielder has 28 RBIs, 22 walks, and 42 hits at an average of .250 for the season.

4. Camilo Doval - Relief Pitcher

Doval has been one of the best relievers for the team and in all of the major leagues. His fourteen saves are the second-most in MLB this season.

In the 25 games he has played, the reliever struck out 38 opposition batters at an ERA of 2.19.

5. Logan Webb - Starting Pitcher

Webb joins Cobb as the best option at starting pitcher for the team. Logan, too has played eleven games in the season, 76 strikeouts at an ERA of 2.75.

His ERA and strikeouts are among the top twelve in the major league for the season. Also, he has eight quality starts to his name, only two behind the league leader Marcus Stroman.
