Twelve MLB Network Female Hosts

MLB Network female hosts include Melanie Newman, Lauren Shehadi and Lauren Gardner. Gayle Gardner was the first woman to host an MLB game in 1994.

Baseball has been famous among the male audience, and the MLB and MiLB are dominated by them. With 30 teams, the MLB has many superstars and network hosts who commentate on their games. Various news networks cover MLB, including big corporates like Fox Sports, ESPN, CBS, and NBC. 

With legendary figures like Bob Costas, Brian Kenny, and Mark DeRosa, the MLB Network has a talented pool of sportscasters. However, there has also been a rise in female hosts in today's era. 

In July 2021, the first all-woman broadcast crew made MLB history when five females hosted the game between the Baltimore Orioles and Tampa Bay Rays.


Lauren Gardner

MLB Network host Lauren Gardner joined the program in March 2019.

She has been the host of the Off Base show for the MLB Network since April 2022. It is a regular-season program that airs on weekdays at 3 p.m. ET. Lauren is also present on Apple TV+ Friday Night Baseball. 

The 37-year-old started her baseball stint by being the In-Game Host for the Colorado Rockies Baseball Club in March 2009. She operated there till 2011.

Then, Lauren reported MiLB and other American sports during her CBS Sports days from April 2012. She is also a host/reporter for Kroenke Sports Enterprises in her hometown, Denver.

Gardner formerly served on the Quick Pitch show on the MLB Network. She was also one of the women in the all-female broadcast team for the MLB's Orioles vs Rys game in 2021.

Keiana Martin

Keiana Martin joined the MLB Network in April 2022. 

She works as an On-Air Host for the Network and has been embedded in the Quick Pitch show. She also does on-site MLB reporting at Secaucus, New Jersey.

Kelly Nash

Kelly Nash signed with the MLB Network in March 2015. She has hosted the Quick Pitch show since 2015 in New York City. 

Kelly worked at Fox Sports as its Tampa Bay Rays Reporter for two years in Florida. Many remember her from her time at the ACC Network as its On- Camera host. Nash reported the Saturday sports pregame show “ACC Kickoff” and hosted the “ACC NOW” program.

Lauren Shehadi

Lauren Shehadi is one of the popular MLB Network female hosts. She made her debut for the Network in 2012.

Lauren co-hosts the MLB Central show along with other sportscasters like Robert Flores and the TBS' Tuesday night shows for both pre-and post-games. Formerly, she used to host the MLB Show called The Rundown

The 39-year-old sportscaster started her career at KXMC-TV in North Dakota. She also was employed by CBS Sports and covered college sports. She hosted the SEC Tailgate show during her time there. 

Shehadi is of Lebanese heritage and was born in Virgian's McLean. She graduated from the University of Florida after getting her high school degree from Langley High.

As of 2023, Lauren has amassed a net worth of 4 million dollars from her media career. The average wage for an MLB journalist is 74,500 dollars, and she started her career in 2007. 

Alanna Rizzo

Alanna Rizzo joined the MLB Network in 2012. Rizzo hosts the High Heat show in 2023 alongside Chris Russo.

Rizzo worked in the Quick pitch and Intenional Talk shows during her 2012-2013 time on MLB Network. There, she worked with famous sportscasters like Chris Rose and Kevin Millar.

After joining the Los Angles Dodgers as its TV Host and reporter in January 2014, she offered her resignation later in January 2021. Dodgers players like Chris Taylor and manager Dave Roberts loved her. Dave believed that she connected the team with the world efficiently. 

After her Dodgers career ended, Alanna rejoined the MLB Network in 2021. She is also a part of the MLB Network Countdown show. Alanna is also a recipient of the Emmy Awards seven times.

Alanna is a graduate of the University of Colorado Boulder. The sports reporter holds a bachelor's degree in International Business and a Master's in Broadcast Journalism.

Siera Santos

MLB Network added a new female host in April 2022 named Siera Santos. 

Siera serves in the hosting duties for the Quick Pitch and Hot Stove show. She shared her last fill-in on the Hot Stove program on March 6, 2023, via her IG handle. 

On February 10, 2023, Siera shared her promotional video on Instagram, stating that she and her team would reveal the World Baseball Classic rosters at 6 PM ET on MLB Tonight.

Born in Phoenix, Santos pursued a Broadcast Journalism degree from Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism.

In March 2012, she started her professional career at KOAA-TV in Colorado Spring. She also spent time in Chicago Sports, covering for NBC and Fox from October 2015 to March 2020.

Alexa Datt

Female host Alexa Datt joined the MLB Network in June 2017. 

She initially became the host of the MLB show, The Dugout, for six months. The show aired from 8-11 pm ET on Wednesday. 

In March 2017, Datt got her show titled, Live with Alexa, which was set in New York. She worked in this show for a year before jumping at the opportunity to host The Cycle show.

Alexa's recent appearance was on The Rundown from March 2018 until May 2022. She has been on the MLB Network for five years and has worked for famous media firms like Fox, Comcast, Verizon, and Bleacher Report. 

She holds a Bachelor's degree in Broadcast journalism from the University of Maryland.

Leila Rahimi

Leila Rahimi is a former host for the MLB Network who joined in May 2015. 

As the host for the MLB Network, she worked in the New Jersey office at Secaucus. She had hosting duties in the MLB Strike Zone Channel and also anchored in-game updates during various games. She left the network in October 2015.

However, she returned to the network in 2018, being one of the co-hosts for the Quick Pitch show. On March 23, 2018, Heidi Watney tweeted how the audience was in good hands with Alexa and others as she could not attend the show due to her baby delivery.

Leila started her career as an Associate Producer for Fox Sports Southwest in June 2001. She had her first hosting duties at CSN Houston, where she got involved in the Astros Pre-game and Postgame program. 

Afterward, she worked as a host for Baseball Night in Chicago for NBC Sports Chicago. Currently, Lila is a co-host for the Bernstein and Rahimi show on the radio channel, The Score 670 AM.

She started working in sports media in 2001 and has been involved with well-known companies like Fox Sports and Comcast.

Erika Wachter

Erika Wachter is a former female host for the MLB network in 2021. She started her broadcasting career in May 2010. 

Wachter was involved with the Quick Pitch show in 2021. She shared her enthusiasm on Instagram on September 21, 2022, telling her followers it was nice to be back on the air to host the Quick Pitch show. 

Erika also started to co-host the network's MLB Game of the Week YouTube pregame show in June 2022.

Starting her career as a Sports Intern in the local NBC 40 WMGM, Wachter became a Production Assistant for ESPN in August 2012. Today, she works for the MSG Network as the New Jersey Devils Host. 

Erika did her Bachelor's at Syracuse University in Broadcast Journalism. She played field hockey in her college and participated as a Newshouse Newstracker.

Kristina Fitzpatrick

Kristina Fitzpatrick was a female host for MLB Network in 2013.

Fitzpatrick was a part of the High Heat show alongside Chris Russo. She was known for hosting the MLB Now show and worked for the Network till 2014.

After that, she joined Fox Sports South and reported for the Atlanta Braves. She operated as an anchor for CNN's Weekend Express show. Her early career saw her being a sideline reporter for the Washington Nationals team in CBS's 2013 college football season. 

Kristina graduated from the University of Florida with a Telecommunication degree in 2006. She was involved in her college's online publication, the Gatorzone. 

Heidi Watney

Heidi Watney is an MLB Network host who joined in November 2012. Watney is married to husband Mike Wickham.

She had hosting duties in three shows for the Network, i.e., Quick pitch, Intentional Talk, and the Hot Stove. She is currently working for Apple TV+.

Watney was one of the members of the all-female broadcast team that commentated on the pre-and post-game shows for the Orioles against the Rays in 2021.

Heidi also worked as the Red Sox Reporter for the New England Sports Network from April 2008 to December 2011. She reported the Red Sox's pre-and post-game moments. Furthermore, she also hosted the Ultimate Red Sox Show and Red Sox Report.

She graduated from the University of San Diego with a Communications and Media Studies degree in 2003. She started her professional career in September 2003 as an anchor for the KMPH Fox 26 channel in Fresno, California.
