MLB is divided into two separate leagues: the American League and the National League. Each league has three divisions and 15 teams each.

The divisions are East, West, and Central for both AL and NL, with five teams in each. Of the thirty professional major league teams in the MLB, 29 are from the States, and Canada has one team in the mix.

Each participating team plays 162 regular season games per the designated schedule every year, and the six best teams from both the AL and NL proceed into the postseason.

After battling out in the league, the AL and the NL winners meet in what is known as the World Series, a best-of-seven series, to determine who is the best baseball team in the world.
