Kyle Higashioka parents Diane Higashioka and Ted Higashioka are residents of Huntington Beach.
Kyle is a fourth-generation Japanese American with the catcher receiving his Japanese roots from his father, Ted Higashioka. Raised as a typical Californian, the Yankees player started to connect with his roots in 2017.
In an interview with The New York Times, in 2017, Kyle said he started to learn Japanese, fulfilling one of his dad's wishes. Learning Japanese not only kept Kyle on the good side of his father but also helped in communicating with his former teammate Masahiro Tanaka.

Kyle Higashioka's father Ted Higashioka is a sales and market navigator at Higashioka Entertainment Group.
A graduate of California State University in Science and Business Administration, Ted Higashioka established Higashioka Entertainment Group in June 2008.
Ted has experience of more than four decades in sales and marketing. He has previously worked as a sales account manager for Borders, a business educator and services group.
During the late 90s, Ted worked as a regional sales manager for Polygram Group Distribution and later as a regional director at Universal Music and Video Distribution.
