Baseball teams in Major League Baseball are divided into the American and National Divisions. Each Division is composed of 15 teams.

29 baseball teams are from different parts of the United States. Toronto Blue Jays is the only team outside the US as it is located in Toronto, Canada. These 30 baseball teams play Major League Baseball for the trophies that include the League Division Title, League Pennants, and the World Series title. 

The National League was started in 1876 and the American League was begun in 1901. These two leagues agreed to conduct a combined baseball league in 1903 as Major League Baseball. It makes the MLB the oldest professional League in the world. 

Basically, the American League and National League are divided into six different regions. They are:

  • AL East: Orioles, Bay Rays, Blue Jays, Red Sox, Yankees
  • AL Central: Twins, Tigers, Guardians, White Sox, Royals
  • AL West: Astros, Rangers, Mariners, Angels, Athletics
  • NL East: Braves, Phillies, Marlins, Mets, Nationals
  • NL Central: Brewers, Cubs, Reds, Pirates, Cardinals
  • NL West: Dodgers, Diamondbacks, Padres, Giants, Rockies

1. Arizona Diamondbacks

Arizona Diamondbacks are a Professional Baseball team competing in the National League West Division. It was established in 1995 and began to Play MLB in 1998.

Diamondbacks plays its home game at Chase Field. Diamondbacks is the youngest team to play MLB and Win the World Series. They won the World Series in 2001 defeating the New York Yankees just after 4 seasons it began to play MLB. The Diamondbacks have won five NL West division titles, one NL pennant, and two Wild Card berths as well in their short history.

The club is based in Phoenix city of Arizona and Randy Johnson and Roberto Alomar are the Diamondbacks famous players.

2. Atlanta Braves

Atlanta Braves was established in 1871 in the name of Boston Red Stockings. Later it was named Milwaukee Braves in 1953 and finally Atlanta Braves in 1966.

Braves are the professional baseball team of the National League East Division since 1194. Truist Park is the official ballpark of the Atlanta Braves. Braves have won four World Series titles in the seasons,1914, 1957, 1995, and 2001 along with 18 NL pennants and 18 NL East Division titles.

Legendary players like Hank Aaron and Chipper Jones are inducted into the Braves Hall of Fame. The current famous players from the Braves are Ronald Acuna Jr, Matt Olson Bryce Elder.

3. Baltimore Orioles

Baltimore Orioles was established in 1894 and it is based in Baltimore since 1953. The club plays MLB in the American League East Division since 1969.

The Baltimore Orioles home ballpark is Oriole Park at Camden Yards which is located in downtown Baltimore and was opened in 1992. The club has won American League Pennants 7 times and American League East Division titles in 10 seasons along with World Series in 1966, 1970, and 1983.

Cal Ripkin Jr. and Jim Palmer are the Orioles legends who are inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame. Aaron Hicks and Kyle Bradish are Orioles current star players.

4. Boston Red Sox

Boston Red Sox is a Boston city-based baseball club. The club was founded in 1901 and has been playing in the American League East Division since 1969. 

Red Sox home stadium is Fenway Park which is one of the oldest baseball parks among the MLB teams. Boston Red Sox have been playing in Fenway Park since 1912. The ballpark has a capacity of 37,755. Red Sox have won 9 World Series titles in their 122 years of baseball history along with 14 American League Penanats and 10 AL East Division titles. Red Sox won the last World Series Title in 2018.

Luis Urias, Justin Turner, and Brayan Bello are some of the famous athletes on the current Red Sox roster. Babe Ruth and Cy Young are Boston Red Sox legends who are inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame.

5. Chicago White Sox

Chicago White Sox is an American League Central Division member club based in Chicago. It was founded in 1894 and has been playing in the American League since 1901.

Guaranteed Rate Field has been the home stadium of the White Sox since 1991 and has a capacity of 40,615. The White Sox won their first World Series title in 1906. They lifted the World Series title in 1917 and 2005 as well along with 7 American League Pennants and 4 AL Central Division titles.

Eddie Collins and Tomas Frank are the Chicago White Sox star players who are induced into the MLB Hall of Fame. Andrew Vaughn, Dylan Cease, and Luis Robert Jr. are the current fan-favorite players from the White Sox.

6. Chicago Cubs

Chicago Cubs, Originally named White Stockings were the founding members of the National League in 1876. The club was named as Chicago Cubs in 1903.

Wrigley Field with a capacity of 41,649 which is located on the north side of Chicago is the home ballpark of the Chicago Cubs. The recent Major title won by the Chicago Cubs was the World Series in 2016. Besides, the Cubs won the World Series title in 1907 and 1908 along with 17 National League Pennants and 6 Central Division titles.

Cubs MLB Hall of Famers include Hack Wilson, Billy Williams, and Lee Smith. Justin Steele, Miguel Amaya, and Christopher Morel are the Cubs current players with a huge fan following.

7. Cincinnati Reds

Cincinnati Reds is a member club of the National League Central Division based in Cincinnati City. It was established in 1881 and joined the NL in 1890.

Great American Ballpark has been the home stadium of the Reds since 2003 which has a capacity of 43,500. Red have won 5 World Series in their MLB History and the last time they it was in season 1990. Likewise, they have lifted 9 NL Pennants and 3 NL Central Division titles.

 Johnny Bench, Barry Larkin, and Tony Pérez are the legends of the Reds who are inducted into the National Hall of Fame. Spencer Steer, Hunter Greene, and Jonathan India are the current Reds famous players.

8. Cleveland Guardians

Cleveland Guardians is a member of the American League Central Division since 1994. The club was established in 1894 and based in Cleveland since 1900.

Guardians home ballpark has been Progressive Field since 1994 and it has a capacity of 34,830 spectators. Guardians have won the World Series titles in 1920 and 1948. Likewise, they have lifted 11 AL Central Division titles along with 6 American League Pennants. The club has not been successful in winning the World Series for 74 seasons and it is the longest drought among all MLB clubs.

Guardians MLB Hall of Fame members are Kenny Lofton, Early Wynn, and Bob Feller. Jose Ramirez and Tanner Bibee are the major players from the current Guardians squad.

9. Colorado Rockies

Colorado Rockies is the National League West Division member club based in Denver. The club was established 30 years ago in 1993.

Coors Field with a capacity of 46,897 has been the home stadium of the Colorado Rockies since 1995. The Rockies won 1 NL pennant in 2007. However, they have not won any World Series titles so far. They were thrashed by the Boston Red Sox in the World Series final in 2007 by 4-0.

Larry Walker is the First Colorado Player to be Inducted into Baseball Hall fame. Nolan Jones, Ryan McMahon, and Kyle Freeland are the famous Rockies in the current roster of Colorado Rockies.

10. Detroit Tigers

Detroit Tigers was established as a major franchise team in 1901 and based in Detroit. Tigers have been a member of the American League Central Division since 1998.

Detroit Tigers have already crowned the four World Series Championships in 1935, 1945, 1968, and 1984. Besides, the Tigers have lifted 11 American League Pennants and 4 AL Central Division titles. The last major trophy they won was the American League Central Division title in 2014. Since 2000, Tigers have been playing their home matches in Commercial Park with a capacity of 40,120.

The current star players from the squad of Detriot Tigers are Spencer Torkelson, Eduardo Rodriguez, and Reese Olson. The National Hall of Fame includes Ty Cobb and Jack Morris.

11. Houston Astros

Houston Astros has been a member of the AL West Division since 2013. The Astros used to play MLB from NL since its establishment in 1962.

Houston Astros have made Minute Maid Park their home ballpark since 2000. It has a capacity of 41,168 spectators. Astros had won the World Series Championship defeating the Philadelphia Phillies in 2022. They also lifted the World Series trophy in 2017 as well. Besides, they are the 4 times AL Pennants winner and 6 times AL West Division Title winner.

Jeff Bagwell and Craig Biggio are the Astros National Baseball Hall of Famers. The recent famous players from the Astros are Yordan Alvarez, Kyle Tucker, and Framber Valdez.

12. Kansas City Royals

Kansas City Royals was established in 1969 and has been a member of the American League Central Division since 1994. The team is based in Kansas City, Missouri.

The Royals won the Two World Series Championships in the year 1985 and 2015 along with 4 AL Pennants and 1 AL Central division title. The home stadium of Boys in Blue is named Kauffman Stadium which has a capacity of 37,903. Royals played four seasons at Municipal Stadium from 1969-1972 before moving to Kauffman Stadium in 1973.

Kansas City Royals Hall of Famers are George Bret and Joe Gordon. The 2023 roster of Royals includes players like Bobby Witt Jr., Brady Singer, and Salvador Perez.

13. Los Angeles Angels

Los Angeles Angels are the AL West Division MLB club based in Anaheim, California. It was established in 1961 and named as California Angels and Anaheim Angels before 2005.

The Angels has been playing its home game in Angel Stadium with a capacity of 43,250. Angels won the World Series Championship of 2001 defeating the San Francisco Giants by 4-3. Besides, the Angels are the winner of 1 AL pennant and 9 AL West Division titles.

Vladimir Guerrero and Nolan Ryan are the National Baseball Hall of Famer from the Los Angeles Angels. Shohei Ohtani and Reid Detmers are the current famous players of the Angels.

14. Los Angeles Dodgers

Los Angeles Dodgers are an MLB club based in Los Angeles and a member of the NL West Division. It was established in 1883 in the Brooklyn and was named Brooklyn Bridegrooms.

The club has been playing its home matches in Dodger Stadium since 1962. The Dodger Stadium has a capacity of massive 56,000 spectators as it is the largest baseball stadium in the world by seat numbers. The Dodgers have won 7 World Series Championships. They won the recent World Series in the season 2020. They have also won 24 NL Pennants and 21 West Division titles in their 140 years of MLB history.

The Los Angeles Dodgers Hall of Famers are Walter Alston and Sandy Koufax. Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts, and Will Smith are current Dodgers players.

15. Miami Marlins

Miami Marlins was established in 1993 as an MLB member of the NL East Division. The Miami-based club was called Flordia Marlins before 2011. 

The Marlins have been playing its home matches at LoanDepot Park since 2012. The Stadium has a capacity of 36,742 spectators and it is also called Marlins Park. The Marlins have the lowest post-season appearances among the 30 MLB clubs. They have reached the postseason in the seasons 1997, 2003, 2020, and 2023. However, they won the World Series twice in their four appearances in the postseason.

Miami Marlins Hall of Famers includes Andre Dawson and Trevor Hoffman. Jorge Soler, Bryan De La Cruz and Jesus Luzardo are the biggest names from the current roster of Miami Marlins.

16. Milwaukee Brewers

Milwaukee Brewers is a member club of the NL Central Division which is based in Milwaukee. The club was established in 1969 and originally named Seattle Pilots.

Brewers have declared American Family Field with a capacity of 41,900 as their official home ballpark since 2011. The club has not won World Series titles and NL Pennants so far. However, they have been the champions of the NL Central Division for four seasons.

The greatest names from the history of Milwaukee Brewers are Hank Aaron and Robin Yount. William Contreras and Corbin Burnes are the current famous players of the Brewers.

17. Minnesota Twins

Minnesota Twins was established in 1901 as Washington Senators. Twins is an MLB member of the AL Central Division and based in Minneapolis since 1961.

The Twins were the World Series champions in 1924, 1987, and 1991. Similarly, they lifted the AL Pennants in 6 seasons and AL Central Division titles 9 times. Target Field with a capacity of 38,544 is the official ballpark of the Twins since 2010.

Minnesota Twins Hall of Famers Includes Goose Goslin, Jim Kaat, and Tony Oliva. Carlos Correa, Max Kepler and Pablo Lopez are the top performer from Twins in the season 2023.

18. New York Mets

New York Mets is a member of the NL East Division and is based in New York City. The Mets were established in 1962 and also called the Metropolitans.

The New York Mets have made Citi Field their official ballpark since 2009 and it has a capacity of 41,922 spectators. The Mets made it to the postseason 10 times but they were crowned with World Series in only 2 seasons, 1969 and 1986. Likewise, they have won five NL Pennants and six NL East Division titles.

Tom Seaver and Mike Piazza are two Mets who are inducted into the Hall of Fame. Pete Alonso and Max Scherzer are some of the famous faces from the current roster of Mets. 

19. New York Yankees

New York Yankees was formed in 1903 with the name New York Highlanders. The AL East Division MLB club was officially called the New York Yankees in 2013.

New York Yankees are based in the New York City borough of the Bronx and its ballpark is named Yankees Stadium. The Yankee Stadium was opened in 2009 and it has the capacity of 46,537 spectators. The Yankees are the most successful baseball team in MLB. They have won 27 World Series titles along with 40 AL Pennants and 20 Al East Division titles.

Red Ruffing and Babe Ruth are the Yankees legends inducted into the Hall of Fame. Likewise, some famous active Yankees are Aaron Judge and Gerrit Cole.

20. Oakland Athletics

Oakland Athletics was established in 1901 as Philadelphia Athletics. It was named Oakland Athletics in 1968 when it was moved to Oakland from Philadelphia.

Oakland Athletics' official ballpark is Oakland Coliseum which has a capacity of 46,847. The Green Elephants are 9 times World Series winners, 15 times AL Pennants winner, and have won 17 West Division titles. Athletes have been in the MLB member of AL West Division since its establishment.

The famous Oakland Athletics Hall of Famers are Home Run Baker and Rollie Finger. Brent Rooker and JP Sears are the current famous players from the roster of Oakland Athletics.

21. Philadelphia Phillies

Philadelphia Phillies was formed in 1883 and are MLB member of the NL East Division. The club is based in Philadelphia city.

The Phillies have been playing its home matches in Citizens Bank Park since 2004. The Phillies stadium has a capacity of 42,901 and is located in the South Philadelphia Sports Complex. 1980 and 2008 were the two special seasons for Phillies fans as Philadelphia Phillies was crowned with the World Series Championship. Likewise, the Philadelphia Phillies have won 8 NL Pennants and 11 East Division titles.

Philadelphia Phillies Hall of Famers includes Steve Carlton and Jim Bunning. Likewise, Trea Turner, J.T. Realmuto, and Kyle Schwarber are the renowned figures of the Phillies current squad.

22. Pittsburgh Pirates

Pittsburgh Pirates was founded in 1881 as a part of the American Association. The Pittsburgh-based club joined the National League in 1887.

A member of the NL Central Division, the Pirates have won 5 World Series titles in their MLB history. Besides, the Pirates are the 9 NL Pennants winner. However, they have not won any NL Central Division titles in their 29 seasons in this division. PNC ballpark is the official stadium of Pittsburgh Pirates for its home matches. The stadium is located on the North Shore of Pittsburgh and has a capacity of 38,747.

Max Carey and Ralph Kiner are the Pittsburgh Pirates Hall of Famers. Carlos Santana and Mitch Keller are the famous faces of the Pirates roster.

23. San Francisco Giants

San Francisco Giants plays MLB as a member of the NL West Division. The San Francisco-based team was established in 1883 as New York Gothams.

The Giants have been playing their home matches in Oracle Park since 2000. Oracle Park is located in the SoMa district of San Francisco with a capacity of 41,915 spectators. The San Francisco Giants have won 8 World Series along with 23 NL pennants and 9 NL West Division titles. 

The famous San Francisco Giants players are Barry Bonds and John McGraw. Logan Webb and Alex Cobb are the famous pitchers of the current Giants team.

24. San Diego Padres

San Diego Padres was established in 1969 as a member of the NL West Division. The San Diego City-based club, the Padres is nicknamed Slam Diego Padres.

The club's official ballpark since 2004 is the Petco Park. The Petco Park is Located in Downtown San Deigo, California, and has a capacity of 40,209. The Padres have a history of 54 MLB seasons and they have not won the World Series so far. The Padres are the only team in California that has not won a World Series but they have won the NL pennants in 2 seasons and the NL West Division title in 5 seasons.

Jake Peavy and Tony Gwynn are inducted into the San Diego Padres Hall of Fame. The current big stars of the Padres are Xander Bogaerts, Juan Soto, and Feranando Tatis Jr..

25. Seattle Mariners

Seattle Mariners was founded in 1977 and has been a member of the AL West Division. The club is based in Seattle and it is nicknamed M's.

Seatle Mariners has been using T-Mobile Park as its home stadium since 1999. The park is located in the western terminus of Interstate 90 and has a capacity of 47,929. The club has not won World Series and AL Pennants so far. The Mariners are the only current Major League Baseball team that has never competed in the World Series. However, the Mariners have won 3 West Division titles.

 Ken Griffey Jr. and Edgar Martínez are famous Mariners from the past while the current famous Mariners include Julio Rodriguez and Luis Castillo.

26. St. Louis Cardinals

St. Louis Cardinals has been playing MLB as a member of the NL Central Division since 1994. The club was established in 1882 as a member of the American Association.

The Cardinals are the second most successful MLB club after the Yankees as they have won 11 World Series tiles along with 19 NL Pennants and 12 NL Central Division titles. Busch Stadium with a capacity of 44,383 spectators is the home ballpark of the Cardinals. The ballpark is located in St. Louis, Missouri.

Tony La Rusa and Stan Musial are the Cardinals Hall of Famers. Willson Contreras and Miles Mikolas are the current players of the St. Louis Cardinals.

27. Tampa Bay Rays

Tampa Bay Rays is the youngest MLB team established in 1998. The Tampa Bay area-based club plays MLB as a member of the American League East Division.

The Bay Rays has been playing its home games at Tropicana Field since 1999. The field has a capacity of 45,369 and is located in St. Petersburg, Florida. Tampa Bay Rays have not won the World Series in their club history but they had reached the World Series in 2008 and 2020 and lost against Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Dodgers respectively. Bay Rays have won 2 AL Pennants and 4 AL East Division titles so far.

Tampa Bay Rays Hall of Famers includes Don Zimmer and Carl Crawford. Zach Eflin, Tyler Glasnow, and Isaac Paredes are currently playing for the Tampa Bay Rays.

28. Texas Rangers

Texas Rangers was established as a member of AL in 1961. The club has been based in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex since 1972.

The Rangers have been playing in the AL West Division since 1972. However, they have not won the World Series. They lost the World Series in 2010 and 2011 against the San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals respectively. But they have won 2 AL Pennants and 7 AL West Division Titles. Globe Life Field is the ballpark of Rnagers which has a capacity of 40,300.

Nolan Ryan, Michael Young, and Ian Kinsler are some famous legends of the Texas Rangers. Dane Dunning and Marcus Semien are the current MLB players playing for Texas Rangers.

29. Toronto Blue Jays

Toronto Blue Jays was established in 1977 in Toronto as a member of the American League East Division. The Blue Jays only MLB club based outside the USA.

The official ballpark of the Blue Jays is called Rogers Centre. The stadium with a capacity of 41,500 is located in Downtown, Toronto. The Blue Jays had won the World Series Championship in 1992 and 1993. Likewise, they won 6 AL East Division titles along with 2 AL Pennants.

Roy Halladay and Jackie Robinson are the famous Blue Jays from the past. Some of the current famous Blue Jays are Bo Bichette, Chris Bassitt, and Kevin Gausman.

30. Washington Nationals

Washington Nationals was established in 1969 as a member of the NL East Division. The club was called as Montreal Expos until 2005.

Nationals Park is the home stadium of the Washington Nationals since 2008. The stadium has a capacity of 41,339 and is located at 1500 South Capitol Street SE, Washington D.C. Washington Nationals have won 1 World Series in 2019 and 5 NL East Division titles. 

Some of the historical faces from the Nationals team are Gray Careter, Ted Lerner, and Frank Robinson. Lane Thomas and Patrick Corbin are currently playing in the Washington Nationals.
